Notice of Grounds Contracts

Attention Landscape Contractor: The North Carolina Department of Transportation contracts out Professional Lawn and Grounds Maintenance for many of their rest area sites.  The bids are advertised online on the State of North Carolina Interactive Purchasing System at following website address: https://www.ips.state.nc.us/ips/ In addition to NCDOT, you will be able to view bids for the procurement of good and services from state agencies, universities, community colleges, public schools and local governments.  This may be an opportunity for you to expand your business. The information is updated continually, so please take the time to check the site on a regular basis.  We encourage you to sign up on ‘Vendor Link NC’.  This will enable your company to receive email notification of any category(ies) of projects you sign up for.  Be sure you update your information online as it changes so that you continue to receive notification. Follow the simple steps to navigate through the site by reading ‘Tips for IPS’.  You may search for bids by department or category.  If you search by department, click on ‘Bids by Department’, then scroll down to ‘DEPARTMENT – Transportation’.  Click on the link and then look in the ‘Description’ column for the list of current bids.  To view a bid click on ‘Bid Number’.  Be sure to see where and when the mandatory pre-bid conference will be held.

To bid on Professional Lawn and Grounds Contract Maintenance Rest Area Projects, you must attend the mandatory pre-bid and meet all the eligibility requirements as specified in the bid.

Only Bidders who have a valid and current North Carolina Ground Applicator Pesticide License, subclassification in Ornamental and Turf Pest Control, issued by NCDA in Bidder’s (an actual employee of the company) name, will be considered eligible to bid.

All Professional Lawn and Grounds Contracts are let as Small Business Enterprise (SBE) contracts.  To qualify for the NCDOT SBE Program a firm must have an annual gross income of $1,500,000 or less, exclusive of materials.  Only contractors who are currently certified as a SBE Contractor by the Contractual Services Unit of NCDOT and are listed in the Directory of Transportation Firms at bid opening will be eligible to bid on this project.  Information on the SBE Program is found at the following website address: http://www.ncdot.org/business/ocs/sbe/

Please check online today to see current bids advertised.  If you have any questions please contact Donna Bryant, NCDOT Roadside Environmental Unit, 919-733-2920.  We look forward to your participation in the Rest Area Contract Maintenance Program.
